Vietnam on Alert as 1,000 fowls die

Vietnam is facing further bird flu problems into 2009 with 1,000 birds dead of unknown causes in Quang Nam province, and a first human case of the year confirmed Tuesday (5th of January). Over 100,000 fowl were killed or culled last year, and it appears the same could be in stock again this year, with the current cold climate, adding to the chances of infection.
