Bird Flu puts Indian Poultry Industry in Jeopardy

The confirmation of another Bird Flu outbreak in India’s West Bengal region has resulted in local farmers fearing for their survival in the industry, as mass culling begins anew, with 7000 birds thought to have been killed. The latest outbreak, the 4th since 2007, comes only weeks after hundreds of thousands of birds were culled in the Assam and Meghalaya regions, and a year after the world’s ‘worst ever’ outbreak, resulting in the cull of 4 million Indian poultry birds.
